Thanks be to God!

With the help of hundreds of friends and churches across the world, we have raised enough money to pay our financial obligations to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and transfer the title of the 13th Ave. property to Jacob's Porch. The check was delivered and the closing was signed on June 8th.

Our goal was to raise $175,000 by June 1st. You all have given well beyond that. Currently, gifts totaling approximately  $300,000 have been received. We have met our 5 year goal of $300,000 in nine months. The remaining $125,000 dollars will go to capital improvements and repairs to the building, as agreed upon with the Missouri Synod.

Next Steps:

We will now begin to make the shift to our innovative new board structure that will provide the support necessary to move into the next phase of life for Jacob's Porch. As that transition is happening we will continue to stabilize ongoing ministry funding and  plan for the future.

The future is bright for Jacob's Porch. Nine months ago it was hard to believe that this amount of money would be gifted to Jacob's Porch in such a short amount of time. We began to despair. However, it seems that God kinda likes Jacob's Porch. Where there was death, now there is new life!

Easter 2018 at the Porch was full of celebration! Christ has risen! Alleluia! One of the students who was baptized that night had this to say, "Thank you everyone for such an incredible night. Tonight's Easter service and being baptized for the first time in my life was one of the true highlights of my life. I've never received so many hugs and smiles and I'm absolutely blessed for this church and all of you here!" -Marcus Mora

Our Jacob's Porch resident, Cedric Gegel, is producing a full length movie called Cadia. Recently two prominent actors signed on to the film.  Corbin Bernsen is a two time Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor.  James Phelps is known for his role as Fred Weasley in the Harry Potter movies. We are excited to welcome them and the rest of the cast and crew to the Porch as they will be using the space as home base during filming in July.  The film deals heavily with Christian themes, and many of the ideas presented in it come from Cedric's experiences at Jacob's Porch. Several students at Jacob's Porch have been and continue to be involved in the production as casting assistants, location scouts, and production assistants! More information can be found at www.cadiafilm.com . Be sure to check it out and keep up with Cadia on Facebook ,  Twitter , and Instagram !

As the semester ended, we said our goodbyes to several amazing students who are graduating. Their leadership has been invaluable to the growth of Jacob's Porch and their stories will forever be a piece of what makes this ministry special. We are so proud of what they have accomplished and where they will be going in the newly approaching season of their life. Each student has brought their own gifts to this place, transforming Jacob's Porch into a community of spiritually nurturing individuals. We hope that their time at the Porch was engaging and full of love. Though we will miss seeing all of our graduating students, they will always be a part of the ever-changing community here at the Porch. May the Lord bless and keep them, and may God's light shine upon each one of them.
