Welcome to Jacob’s Porch!
Jacob was a liar and a thief.
He lied about who he was, stole what wasn't his, and ran from what he'd done. At a crossroads, God met him, and instead of an easy blessing, God wrestled with him all night. Jacob left with a new name, Israel, "God-wrestler." He also left with a limp. Blessed and limping, that's the deal. (Genesis 32:22-31). We're named for that fight.
We're also a porch. In ancient Israel, the porches around the temple were where rabbis taught, people mingled, and arguments broke out as often as blessings did. A porch isn't the house; it's a place you stop, wrestle with something real, and move back into your life. Temporary, but never surface-level.
We are a Christian community near Ohio State's campus where students and young adults worship, ask hard questions, and figure out faith in the middle of everyday life.
May you leave blessed, and may you leave limping.
